Implementing and improving upon products and processes made at Croda (speciality chemicals). This includes improving sustainability, quality, capacity/throughout, right first time etc. Carrying out lab-scale and plant scale trials.
First class BSc (hons) in chemical science from MMU Yorkshire and the Humber higher/degree apprentice of the year 2020 Developed key skills such as time management, organisation, project management, communication etc.
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship. At work I wasn't treated as an apprentice just as another valued member of the team. It gave me a chance to learn a lot about the company and speak to people in different departments that I might not have had the chance to.
Very well organised. MMU Moodle always up to date with everything. Regular contact with tutors. Support available from work as well. Time given for study. Other training offered and encouraged.
My manager was my mentor and was very supportive. I was always given the time to study. He also provided guidance and feedback on my assignments. Same with other colleagues.
Very supportive. Moodle always up to date. Regular emails and quick responses. Always very helpful.
My course was applied as well as academic and so was very useful for a career in the chemical industry e.g. health and safety, business improvement, environmental management. Some chemistry also relevant to the chemistry done on site.
Sports teams e.g. 5 a side football and cricket, social activities planned often within departments, STEM activities, 1% of working time allowed to be given to the community
