  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day tasks include identifying and managing risks within the business, identifying ways to mitigate the risks. Producing management information using data analysis, highlighting key themes and trends. Suggesting actions to be taken to follow up when issues have occured. Producing packs for committees and forums. Supporting the business area in managing their risks appropriately.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learnt key risk management skills, covering a variety of different risk categories, including identification, managing and mitigating risks. Developed strong stakeholder management skills, improved communication skills, both verbal and written. Developed my team work skills. Learnt new skills in data and analytics. Improved project management skills, including time management, organisational, adaptability and resilience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Good broad range of areas to experience, all with different areas of focus and can build and develop different types of skill sets. Supportive culture and teams within the organisation, supports development and adjusting to new roles. Interesting work that challenges you and helps with continuous development. Possibility to get involved with other areas and collaborate.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Good structure, sets you up well for the future as it helps to identify and track your development, skills and knowledge and identify areas of improvement and how you can adapt your work to become stronger. Difficulty in the assessment and project phase as it doesn't line up well with the rotational aspect of the graduate scheme. Amazing support from talent coach.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Great support from employer, more particularly the line managers I have had. Supportive and understanding of development needs and gives appropriate tasks in order to meet objectives and stretch myself. Allows appropriate time to complete qualification. Less direct support from employer as more support comes from apprenticeship provider who can help with any issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Great support. Talent coach is amazing. Keeps the qualification on track whilst understanding business and personal needs. Supportive and explains the qualification requirements and how you can achieve these well. Always there if you need any support/if any issues occur. Focused on you as an individual, taking time to be considerate, friendly and discuss more than just the qualification. Can't speak for the training provider as a whole, but my personal talent coach goes above and beyond and has really made a difference in my qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me to understand my development, identifying areas of strength that I can utilise more and identifying areas of development that I can look to work on and build. It encourages me to push myself and do tasks that I might not otherwise do in order to get a broad range of skills. It has improved my knowledge and understanding of the industry and my organisation.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, but these are been reduced due to the move to remote working. There is the opportunity to be involved with different fundraising initiatives, such as quizzes, virtual races etc. There is also the opportunity to have team social events and catch-ups to support wellbeing and colleague engagement. There are often knowledge sharing and shadowing events to learn more about different areas within the organisation.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Lovely culture, inclusive and supportive of individuals. Focus on wellbeing and development is great. Broad range of areas to try and experience, good support for career progression and trying out different areas. Supportive, friendly colleagues. Working on inclusivity and diversity, with networks you can get involved in to support this. Good work benefits.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • Be yourself and show your personality. It is nice to know what you would be like as a colleague so its good to see your true self in CV's/interviews etc. Culture is important so look at company values and aims and discuss how you demonstrate these within your application.
