My role is to carry out rotational placements in different departments, shadow technicians in this area and complete any project work that has been set out for me to do.
I have developed on my understanding out how the plant runs, what different areas in the plant do and how important their role is to ensure that continuous development is achieved. I have developed on my communicational skills, team building and working independently when being set a task.
I enjoy the program that I am on as I am able to gain a understanding on the different departments in a manufacturing company. I have found this to interesting as I am able to be both hands on and technical, so everything is always changing and new.
The programme is organised and structured as the rotations are planned till the end of the apprenticeships. Therefore, this means that different departments are aware of apprentices being moved into their areas and allows us as apprentices to know where we are next.
Support is constantly being given across the plant, whether that is with needing help when carrying out a project, to having issues that are affecting you in work. Support is always being given and so far I have found this to be really helpful.
Support is continuously being given by our training provider. Every 10 weeks a review is carried out with them to ensure that we are up to date with our work and meeting the expectations they expect us to in the work place.
I feel like it provides me with the information needed to understand terminology used in different departments across the plant. It also allows me to apply what I have learnt in college and use this information when working in the plant.
