I'm in the Programme and Planning team at DXC. I'm the demand planner for a Project in my team. This role allows me to get people in the roles in a timely manner so the work is done on time. I'm also a STEM ambassador and I'm in the employee engagement team. The employee engagement team allows employees to participate in fun tasks during the week and my role as a STEM ambassador is to inspire the young pupils about the 4 subjects - Science, Maths, Engineering and Technology. Also since September 2020, when I first joined DXC, I have been involved in various QA Apprenticeship training courses, these have all been great, interesting and very beneficial.
I have learned many new skills such as leadership. I'm now allowed to lead different tasks and actions in my role myself. I have learned new Microsoft Excel skills and good useful and handful tips as I use Microsoft Excel everyday in my role. I have developed my team working skills as I work with my team everyday to discuss and delegate different actions. I do my Apprenticeship through QA Apprenticeships and I learned so many new skills on each training course such as more Microsoft Platforms, Photoshopping and video editing.
I really like what I'm doing at DXC Technology. I also loved doing the QA Courses during the year which I have now completed. I only left school last year in 2020 early because of COVID-19 and I wanted to find something that I would love and would give me a challenge and I think I have found that in DXC Technology. Also through QA Apprenticeships they are very supportive and helpful and the courses a great. I really enjoyed attending each course.
My Apprenticeship has been through QA Apprenticeships. Since when I started in DXC Technology. QA have always been organised sending me different things I Need to complete early and well in advance and even when the training courses were coming up you were sent the invite weeks before hand and the night before just in case. The whole structure of QA was great the courses were spaced out and so was the different documents and work you had to complete so you had plenty time and I was always told in advance.
DXC Technology is great, they is so many different people you can talk to and network with. My people manager has been so supportive and helpful over the last 9 months. He always checks up on me with regular catch up calls and makes sure I'm getting enough work and supporting me if needed. My manager is also great too she is so supportive and she has weekly calls with me to see how I'm getting on.
My training provider at QA Apprenticeships was Jennifer Garrett she was amazing. She was so supportive and so helpful. She was really organised and set up regular calls to see how I was getting on with the work load and if I need any help. She was always there if needed and always got back to me quickly. She was great and made me feel at ease when I first joined.
Since completing my QA Apprenticeship I feel I have more knowledge and skills that I can take back to my work and team. I learned maybe great things that helped me develop new skills. This is why I choose an Apprenticeship as I wanted to be challenged but learn so much. What I learned on some of the QA training courses I use in my day to day role in DXC Technology.
Yes as I said in one of the questions above. I volunteer as a STEM ambassador and I'm in the employee engagement team. I joined these as soon as I joined DXC as I wanted to be involved in as many things as possible. In DXC as its working from home I have never been to the office, we do many networking events so employees don't feel they have lost that social side of work discuss with people their roles and hobbies. I'm also apart of the Charity team at DXC and we organise events for our Charites that have partnered with DXC.

DXC Technology has been a great first job for me. I have developed and learned loads of new skills that I will continue to use as I progress in my role. There are many different opportunities in DXC you can take to progress in your career. I have felt very supported in my time at DXC and I know if I ever need someone I have lots of people I can turn to.
During the application process if you have any IT/Admin or business experience it would be good to add if you have received any qualifications at school or college Be yourself during the interview, be confident and don't be afraid to ask questions about your role you've applied for. or about DXC as a company. If you get the job make sure you do lots of training afterwards as this gives you a bit of an understanding of what DXC do. Always look for different opportunities to get involved in as you will be recognised for it.
