  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves supporting users from a number of sites globally. This is done via a ticket system, emails, phone calls and in person. There is also small amount of continuous improvement project work that is completed to improve the IT service provided to users throughout the business. SLAs and KPIs must also be met

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learned lots of technical skills in regards to new technologies which I have learnt about while supporting users. I have also been able to develop my communication and customer service skills and part of this role. Also the modules and examinations completed as part of my apprenticeship has allowed me to gain knowledge on a range of areas

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy this program a lot, the modules and course work are always very interesting and the tutors and skill coaches are always very helpful and supportive during the program. It is also good that during COVID-19 restrictions QA were able to continue teaching online and be flexible with students

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There were some administration errors here and there but otherwise the program is very well structured and organised. Especially when attending the on-site courses everything required is always prepared and the tutors are always organised and prepared for courses. Timetables and reminder emails are sent out often which shows the structure

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a good amount of support, I am provided the time off required to complete the work and colleagues will assist with queries in regards to course work as and when they can, however work is not often delegated to my other colleagues meaning I do often have to catch up

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from QA skill coach always very transparent with information and course bookings, very helpful during the work based project module and provides constructive feedback helpful to achieving a good mark. Information about modules is also provided so students can choose the best modules for their roles or interests

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The knowledge picked up from the modules and courses have proven to be very helpful as the knowledge can be picked up and take into a real world business environment. The degree qualification also opens door to progress further in your career. Being able to make contacts on your industry through the program is also helpful

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are, there is a social committee who run different events for people in the business both outside and during work time such as lunch and learns and also other sports activities that can be done outside of work. There is also a Facebook group outside of work allowing people to communicate with one another

  • Yes

  • Great culture, everyone works hard in order to meet the businesses goals and objectives. There are social opportunities also for people who are interested and reward and recognition schemes within the business to reward those meeting the businesses values and recognise your colleagues. Business has grown considerable in the last few years so get to join a business which may have more opportunities to move toward


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Advanced Medical Solutions?
  • Be prepared to work hard and be social with people in the organisation. Be ready to learn new things and experience processes and technologies which may be new to you and be prepared to be involved in projects. The organisation is also very flexible on terms of work location during COVID-19
