It is impossible to say what I do day to day as within Babcock we go through multiple placements. In my current placement I am doing technical administration for a nuclear side of the business and hence cant disclose everything I do. Mainly document control and standard admin such as stationary ordering and filing.
I have learnt and developed time management as well as priority listing the most since my time at babcock. i started with very poor management of time as well as not knowing how to prioritise my work. However through multiple placement and wrokign in different business units I have managed to evolve and adapt.
I have extremely enjoyed my time with babcock. The work I have done has been differential and never the same. I am working with something of a bigger picture. The teams are great and helpful. The company cultutre I feel is something i can really get behind. IT has exceeded my expectations.
The programme is very organised even though COVID has struck us messing multiple norms up. they have still managed to come through and give a strict and forward schedule to things. They are always adding new additions and ideas to it too that they think can help us and even help knewer intakes.
We receive mega amounts of support from the employer. Our manager is always there to help and improve us. The HR team you dont really here from unless yourself has a problem. Our mentors give us monthly 1-1s. There is support surrounding everyone. Multiple networks to get involved in around the site.
You receive constant support from your placement manager throughout your time as an apprentice. You also have a college representative that you can contact if you struggle with any part of the NVQ. This is also something you can bring up in your 1-1s with your mentor every month. Your team will also willingly support you.
I believe the qualification has some assistance to learning what you do in your role. However for the most part admin is so wide and uncontrolled that there is no way it covers it all. I also found I learnt 90% of my job through actually doing it in my team.
There are multiple professional networking events and networks you can get invilved in within babcock. If you look in the right place there are also teams and sport you can et involved in also. I am an avid fisherman and within babcock I have met fellow fishers and have had a couple sessions on the bank with them.
Yes
I would recommend babcock to a friend because when you are in there you can see the vast amount of options you have to build a successful and good career. They have so many different versions of each job role and multiple business units you can join. There is also tonnes of benefits of being an employee.
I would say be yourself but be your best self. Show your eagerness and want to join and be part of something bigger. Show that you can work in a team but also that you are willing to improve in every aspect possible. I would also tell people to get as involved as possible at the assessment days.
