I am an application support technician, I answer queries in the form of tickets. Alongside tickets, I have been given different processes that I should complete independently.
SQL has been a really important part of my role, I am becoming more familiar with it every day. It is something I had never had any experience with before.
I have enjoyed my program so far, although, I am not very far into it. It has been harder as everything has been online but working from home suits me. My team is small and they're all great.
Bootcamp was tough but enjoyable, being online made it more difficult as a new starter. Replies for support are quick especially via teams. I have a career counsellor to help keep me on track.
My manager is extremely helpful and I feel I can always ask questions. I haven't had much experience with my HR Team but in the times I have, they have been helpful and understanding. Equipment was given to help me get started at home safely.
My tutor is generally quick to reply via emails, they don't mind helping individually if I am unsure of something.
I definitely know more about my industry because of my apprenticeship, I know what is expected from me and how to succeed in my day to day role with the help of my additional learning.
Because of corona, the majority of activities have been online but there are sessions and activities organised most days/weeks to get involved in. Currently, there is a steps competition with prizes to be won for those involved which is great for keeping us active.
Yes
Gaining experience and learning towards a degree is an amazing oppurtunity and I really love my team and current role.
Make sure you really do your research around the company. For any interviews, prepare beforehand, if you really want this apprenticeship you can't wing it, you have to show how much you're willing to give to get the job. Also, the people who interview are really nice.
