On a daily basis I will respond and send out emails to my team as well as allocating and sifting through cases for my colleagues and wider team. I also assist my team by creating excel spreadsheets of the cases we have in queue and any cases that need to be prioritised.
Since starting my apprenticeship I have been given the time and resources to develop new skills and improve on skills I already had. I have taken part in many internal and external training courses that been so useful for helping me develop in a professional environment. I personally found the courses on employee and consumer mental health & well being particularly interesting.
I have really enjoyed my time at the financial ombudsman service, from the first day I have felt welcome and can honestly say I feel like a valued member of my team. The programme has been so varied and there is never a dull moment. The variety of the work I do has kept me interested and engaged throughout my time so far.
The onboarding process when joining was amazing. It really helped me settle in to my role and understand the ethos within the financial ombudsman service. I have regular meetings with a mentor where I can ask any questions I have. The great thing about having a mentor is that they were apprentice as well so can provide help based on their experiences.
The support I receive is amazing. I know if I have any issues I can bring them up with my manager, my mentor or even my team. If I've had any questions about a task or anything else I've been able to get help or I will be directed to someone who has the knowledge to assist me.
I feel the support from my training provider is good. I have a virtual meeting with my trainer on a monthly basis where we go through my work and set new tasks for the upcoming month. My trainer has always been very helpful If I have needed anything to be explained further or additional help.
I feel most of the modules in the apprenticeship help me excel within my role and have helped me to become a more well rounded administrator so far. However some of the tasks within modules aren't always relevant to my role, but I still find them interesting even if I haven't put them into practice yet.
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 I haven't had a chance to join any sports teams or go to the gym yet but I'm looking forward to it when we can do so. Even despite not being able to go into the office there have been many great social activities and events that have taken place on Microsoft Teams.
Yes
I haven't had a dull moment yet, I have found my work really interesting and my tasks are varied and engaging. The support I receive from my manager, mentor, team and other apprentices has been amazing. I can't wait to see what new tasks I get contribute to in the next few months.
The application process was fairly long but looking back it was definitely worth it. I know interviews and applications processes can usually be a daunting experience but the HR team was very helpful at each stage. The onboarding process was great, it helped me settle in quickly and was a fun way of getting to know the other apprentices.
