  • Day to day work involves molecular testing (NAAT) for Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV, Hep B and C, SARS-CoV-2,

  • Yes I have developed more Biomedical Scientist skills with more responsibilities.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It's been hard during the pandemic and it's been more than just a challenge but I'm happy that the apprenticeship has come to an end

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There have been more than one challenges. I sometimes felt that there was not enough support from the university lecturers because they didn't know what they were doing either. I felt like I was the guinea pig for something new.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been wonderful accommodating my every need, like day releases for university and they have never complained about me being off work for too long. They believe in me and they know I can become a good scientist , because I started from low and I climbed up in the career ladder

  • It's been OK. As mentioned earlier because apprenticeship is new, I felt like tutors didn't know a lot either.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Social activities included going out with colleagues after work. Unfortunately that was not possible due to the pandemic

  • Yes

  • A lot of potential going up the ladder and opportunities for career progression and academic qualifications

  • Read the job qualifications before the interview, uphold and adhere to the standards
