My role is to make sure that the children are looked after and to make sure that they have a variety of activities that will help them to grow and to develop. I also help to change nappies and to help with potty training and help with snack and mealtimes.
I have learnt many skills at my workplace. I have learnt how to communicate with staff members, children and their parents effectively and I have also learnt how to change nappies as I didn’t know how to do this before I started doing my apprenticeship. I have also learnt how to set up activities for the children.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship as I have always wanted to work with children and this apprenticeship will help me as after I have completed my level 2 apprenticeship in early years I hope to then progress onto my level 3 apprenticeship programme. I really enjoy doing different things every day.
My programme is very organized and well structured and I love learning about different things on my course, such as: health and well-being, the prevent duty and safeguarding as this will help me to further my knowledge on these topics and other topics in the future. It will also help me to spot it a child may be at risk of being abused.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I speak to her if I have any problems in the setting and if I need any support with my coursework if I ever get stuck on something as she is always there to help me and support me with my apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider such as: when I need help with any part of my programme she is always there to support me especially when there is parts of it that I don’t understand or need her to go over with me which is very helpful.
My qualification helps me to perform better in my role as I now know how to spot certain things, such as: if a child is being abused and the signs and symptoms of various abuses, such as physical emotional psychological etc. it also helps me to further my knowledge on topics.
No there isn’t any extra curricular activities that I can join in at my setting.
