  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Every day is completely different, some days you will be working as a team to complete tasks throughout the day or you could be working by yourself as an individual, some days you will climb poles, some days you will be providing the cable through boxes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills, such like learning how to Splice, Different types of cables, How to complete difficult tasks by taking a step back and looking at the challenge from different angles, as well as improving my communication, Teamwork and Self confidence

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This programme is very enjoyable for myself personally as I enjoy being hands on and this is exactly what this programme has entailed, you are thrown in at the deep end which can be very daunting however you pick up the skills really quickly and are supported extremely well

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This programme is organised very well, I have completed an Apprenticeship before and always felt pressure to get things done on time, however this programme feels different and I feel much more supported and less rushed in completing my work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel the support from this company is great, you always have your team by your side when you need someone, your manager is always only a call away and you always have access to anyone within the company to ask for support or ask a question to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again they are always just a call away, even if they do not answer straight away you know they will call you back as soon as they have time, or drop and email to check in on you.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Without the support through training I feel I would have certainly struggled to perform as well as I do in my role, The training I received was great, everything was helpful towards the day to day tasks and still challenged you to do your best.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently we are in lockdown so we do not have any Face to Face meetings, however we have a workplace app/site that we can use and access whenever we want, this is just like facebook however it is just for this company.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Personally for me I feel that I have gained so many new skills within this company and met so many incredible people, the career progression is also great, if you are looking to further forward your career then this company will always support you to do so.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • I would suggest that you do your research into the company, When applying for the role make sure you feel confident, be honest and open with the people you speak to and make sure you are open to learn new skills.
