My day to day role involves providing telephone and internet service to customers, as well as fixing faults.
Yes. This was a complete career change for me. I feel like I'm learning new skills every day. Everybody I've met so far on my journey have been really helpful and happy to help, from my assessor to my colleagues and other trainees I began this new challenge with.
I found the programme quite difficult at first, as it is the first time I had done anything like this, also due to the lockdown restrictions meaning all training was done remotely, however my assessor was excellent, and nothing was to much trouble. The longer the programme went on, the more confident I felt with the training.
The programme was really organised. Because of the pandemic, obviously learning was slightly different but to say I completed a full programme without actually meeting my assessor face to face says how organised it was, and how organised he was.
Unlimited support. Whenever I needed any extra help, or a bit of time to complete certain sections, this was granted. My Patch Lead made me feel really supported helped in any way she could.
Again, the support I received from my assessor was excellent. He was always at the end of the phone, and organised numerous on line lessons, as well as Emailing for updates and offering support.
Receiving this qualification through the training provider helps me every day, because due to the training I have a better understanding of my job role as well as what is expected from me from the company.
Since the lifting of social distancing restrictions I have been playing football with some of my colleagues. Every Thursday night we hire a pitch at a local football centre. This has been great for me as its helped me to interact more and get to know some of my colleagues more in a social setting.
Yes
I initially heard about Openreach from a friend who had nothing but good things to say about the company, and so far I've found Openreach to be excellent employers. Very fair, very supportive and the training they provide has been outstanding.
Just to go for it. I wouldn't lie and pretend its always been easy, I've found quite a lot of aspects of the job difficult but with the training and support I've received, I feel that I have accomplished a lot in a short space of time, and cannot wait to continue this journey.
