It’s a complete change of direction for me so everything I currently do in my working day is a new skill obtained from the initial training period or from guidance provided by experienced team engineers.
The job is really enjoyable but I’m not particularly enjoying the writing of the case studies for my portfolio. I’m not IT Davy and find having to work out how to achieve something via a laptop adds additional stress on top of the evidence gathering process when your busy completing tasks.
Initially very good but the online sessions are a little disjointed and there appears to be a gap between what the traineeship side of the business want and what your operational managers expect from you as a member of the team.
Generally they are very supportive but as previously mentioned it’s difficult sometimes to obtain good quality evidence for your portfolio when the work expectancy is the same as a fully qualified engineer.
I haven’t yet received any input on Maths or English but have now completed 3 written based English assessments 1 speaking and listening English assessment and 2 Maths assessments. The provider of the functional skills is an external body and the apprenticeship contact is internal which sometimes create a barrier in communication I feel,
Because the traineeship is now portfolio based I don’t really feel it makes much difference to the way I perform in the field. These are skills I’ve been taught on my initial training.
There is a community page which had many groups that you can join if that’s your thing but it just isnt for me.
Yes
It’s a very caring company with supportive culture. Job security and working conditions are good and opportunities in the future are available if you want a change of direction or promotion.
Just be yourself and use your life experiences kills to demonstrate your suitable for the role during the interview process.
