My virtual experience involved a lot of interactivity with the 4 different streams of the business - as well as different tips and hints into how I can progress my career through school leaver apprenticeships as well as develop a business acumen.
I learnt a lot about how to network and be unique - as well as being able to express yourself and make sure you are seen on different platforms. I also learnt the art of communication and resilience.
I really liked the experience because there was a lot of information which was concise and accurate - allowing me to gain a coherent and holistic insight into how the business operates both within the company and with clients (as well as team collaboration with NGOs).
It was very well organised and split into a whole clear timetable on two different platforms which were easy to navigate through.
I learnt a lot about the BDO mottos and the idea of “be yourself” - different organic communities have been created on that basis and being able to express yourself freely (not change). It’s a great work environment.
It really helped in giving me more information on accounting and helping me overcome that uncertainty on whether or not it is a really interesting path to take (which it is!).
No - it was a free virtual work experience. However there was a lot of great merchandise that was sent over for us to use.
There were several opportunities for networking as there were many teams calls face to face with members of the early in careers team - as well as that we were able to network with members of the 4 streams Tax, Advisory, BS&O, Audit through the different platforms.
Yes
- The culture within the company is great with a lot of charity work and volunteering - The way they project themselves is so professional and willing to incorporate everyone - It is an international business and they use their global influence very well
- Put forward the skills that you have learnt and make sure you back them up with examples as evidence - communication, resilience etc - Be concise and willing - Research a bit about the company and it’s values beforehand - Be Yourself :)
