An action-packed five day work experience which involved presentations about the company, personal branding training, a wellbeing workshop, a chance to network with other students and an introductory course to Audit! We were given many opportunities to interact with BDO employees and ask questions and also made presentations in groups.
We were given an introduction to Audit by internal training providers, which gave us the chance to briefly learn about bookkeeping and Audit. A personal branding training session was also delivered to help us realise the skills we have and how they match for the role we're applying for.
I thoroughly enjoyed this virtual experience from BDO; it was so interactive that you didn't even feel like you were sitting alone in your room! So much useful information was provided and the week was very well organised. A brilliant opportunity to develop all sorts of skills and learn.
The programme was very well organised. Emails were sent out before the programme with help and guidance on the platforms that they were going to use. There was also a lot of punctuality in terms of start times of sessions and BDO staff were quick to reply to any queries.
I learnt a huge amount on the company's culture- not only because of the presentations delivered on their values and culture, but also because I had the chance to experience the amazing company culture first-hand throughout the week. All staff would say it's a great place to work.
The virtual experience helped me immensely in terms of what profession I would like to go into and what company too. This is all due to BDO staff describing and explaining their own experiences in the profession and because of the helpful course we were given that briefly introduced Audit.
We were not paid or reimbursed for this experience as it was virtual, but we would have been reimbursed for costs if the experience was in real life. Nevertheless, BDO did kindly send out hoodies, bottles, pens and notepads to all their participants which was a wonderful gesture to make.
Despite the programme being virtual, there were plenty of opportunities to network with other students. This was done through speed networking events, group presentations, social activities like treasure hunts and breakout rooms in sessions. It was lovely meeting people from all areas and backgrounds and even potentially meeting future colleagues!
Yes
I would recommend BDO to a friend as everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful. They truly did the best they could to make our week as fun and informative as possible. Overall, it is just an incredible and supportive company with an amazing culture and organised departments.
My tips would be: -Attend BDO insight events (look out for these on their website) -Research the company thoroughly before your interview -Don't be afraid to reach out to BDO employees on LinkedIn (they are all very friendly!) -Be yourself at the assessment centre- your personality is valued here!
