We learnt about BDO as a company including their four sectors, Tax, audit, advisory and business & outsourcing. We had a chance to network with employees across all sectors and ask them question. We also learnt other useful lessons such as personal branding, resilience and BDOs values.
The main thing I learnt was the skill of networking and in turn how important it is to step out of your comfort zone. During the course we had he opportunity to speak to current employees and also fellow attendees which was very eye opening and useful.
I very much enjoyed my experience as there was always something to do or something to learn. BDO made me feel part of the company straight away with their complementary merchandise and from that I was eager to learn about the job and the company and enjoyed doing so.
Very well organised. We had an itinary given to us at the start and so we knew exactly what we was doing at what time and so could plan accordingly. There was also always someone to ask a question to if you had any queries.
During the week, we learnt a lot about what it meant to be part of BDO including the values that they abide by such as Be Yourself. The company culture and values were made clear from the start and so we always knew how well they treat their employees.
The experience helped me massively. At the end of the week we were given the opportunity to have an interview for a fast track for the test centre in the sector of the company we could see ourselves working in. This gave us a direct career path for the future.
No we wasn’t however there was an opportunity to apply for a paid internship for two weeks.
There were a lot of chances to get to know other attendees on the course and also current employees who were very enthusiastic about the company and also when asking any question that we had thy were more than happy to answer and offer their best advice.
Yes
It’s an experience that will put you outside your comfort zone whilst still being very enjoyable . I think this is crucial to self development in the workplace and so would definitely recommend.
Take every opportunity available from the insight week to truly get the best out of it. From picking up on new skills such as personal branding, learning about your possible future career path and networking with fellow attendees they are all very worthwhile and develop into a brilliant insight week.
