The work experience involved panel talks with trainees and solicitors where we could ask them questions about their job and how they got there. we also had people talk to us about the different jobs in pinsent masons. we worked in groups to work on case studies and also debated with each other and presented our cases.
I developed an ability to think quickly on the spot and talk in a more formal way. I also developed more confidence when presenting to others, and teamwork was essential, my analytical skills also increased as i had to have a lot of attention to detail when reading contracts and drafting contracts.
I enjoyed the work experience a lot, it was really interactive and informative, the work experience helped me see what the day to day life of a lawyer may be and it made me want to pursue law even more. the one thing i found difficult was the individual tasks, they were quite hard for me.
Very well organised, we had a schedule on what we were doing and at what time for the whole week, we stuck to the schedule and we were able to access it easily. Everyone was present when they needed to be and we started at the correct time each time.
I learned quite a lot, a lot of the trainees explained how it was to work there and there was also someone who came in and talked about Pinsent Masons as a whole, their environment and their purpose as a business, who they worked with and how their employees and clients are treated, I was very pleased hearing this and i hope to work for a company like Pinsent Masons one days.
it helped me a lot, at first I was just leaning towards law and I wanted to find out more about it, the work experience gave me that extra push I needed and gave me more insight about the various jobs a lawyer has to do. They also gave information on the different paths you could take to become a lawyer.
No I was not paid for this experience as it was just a virtual work experience for young adults interested in commercial law, i did not need to be paid for this as I have gained valuable insight instead. There was no need to pay for any Tavel costs or meal costs as it was online.
Yes there were lots of opportunities to network with different employees, there was a panel to talk to trainees and solicitors, also lots of employees did presentations with us and we were also given opportunities to ask questions about their work. We could also email them later if we wanted more information.
Yes
Because the work experience was very professional and insightful, it was well organised and structured, we were given opportunities to interact with each other and work together, it was fun and interactive and interesting and I would recommend it to any friends that are interested is commercial law or anything business related
When applying you should be honest on why you want the work experience and make sure you check the deadlines and work according to them, email them if you have any questions and they will surely answer. There are no interviews so make sure you write anything you want them to know in your application.
