  • Designing customers kitchens and bathrooms and quoting for installation

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to design tricky areas of kitchens and bathrooms and developed my existing product knowledge. I have also learnt what goes into the customer journey and what is expected of my job role within the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the virtual calls due to covid-19 as this saved on travelling time to my nearest learning centre. However, this meant we did not get to see suppliers and their manufacturing processes.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I don’t believe the course was well organised as this was the first year of them launching this course, also with Covid-19 hitting a lot of calls had to be re-arranged and we missed out on working experience due to lockdowns.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received little support from my employer, I had to take it upon myself to put time aside to work on my apprenticeship. No manager reviews took place throughout the 12 month course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My apprentice Mentor was a great help with any questions at any time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don’t believe my qualification helps me perform better as I was already working the design consultant role prior to completing the course.

  • No

  • 9a. Would you recommend Wickes to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Yes, because the showroom is a great place to work due to the morale and friendly relationships between colleagues. I enjoy coming to work but also the pay is really good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Wickes?
  • Be prepared to commit extra time to customers, we work long hours most days but it is rewarding with the commission we receive.
