Helping to deliver lessons and provide support to the students when completing work, supervising in the playground, providing after school childcare/clubs, changing reading books
I’ve become more confident in my ability to explain things to children in a way that they understand and independently support small groups of children at a time. I have also learnt how to support children with reading/writing using phonics correctly.
I love working the job and gaining experience. I prefer doing written assignments over professional discussions as I suffer with anxiety and hate doing these, so I wish it was possible to accommodate each learner’s preferred learning style, allowing them to succeed in a way they’re comfortable with.
Very well structured. I have regular meetings with my tutor (every 6 weeks) so I always know what assignment is next and what’s coming up in the near future.
I receive lots of support from my employer. They regularly check in with me to see how things are going and whether there is anything they can do for me to help me out.
I receive lots of support from my training provider. I have regular meetings (every 6 weeks) via Microsoft teams, and my tutor is available to contact through email or by text/call whenever I need her. She always responds in a timely manner.
It provides an insight into all the knowledge, skills and behaviours I need in order to be as successful in my role as possible.
Yes, there are regular social activities organised between staff members that I have been included in, as well as additional training sessions outside of work hours.

I was welcomed strongly from the day I started and have always been respected, included and treated as part of the team despite being an apprentice. I have been offered so much support and my colleagues/management genuinely care about me, remembering small details I have mentioned.
Do your research about the school beforehand so that you’re familiar with their values and ways of working, and make sure to use your initiative, pull your weight and be part of the team, not just sit in the background.
