  • Yes I have learnt a lot of new skills, I am now much more confident when speaking with customers about there project and what aspirations they have. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very much, I find each session with my coach very informative, and find that doing the pre work and research always helps me to better understand what will be happening in each module. I am enjoying learning new things and building a portfolio of my work and even doing presentations to show of my knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think its pretty well organised, I had all my calendar invites with plenty of time so I could work my schedule around my learning. I never felt that my job is suffering due to the apprenticeship, and was always given time to work from home if that was easier for me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been great, giving me time to work in private, from home if needs be, so that I can concentrate solely on what i'm learning that day without interruption from customers or indeed other staff. My mentor has always been on hand to speak to my employers if this has got difficult at any time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training has been stable and enjoyable, and when ever I have had a question or a worry about something on the course my mentor has answered my emails or dropped me a call to help put my mind at rest. They have always gone through my work and let me know promptly if something needs altering in any way.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My knowledge has expanded a hundred fold since doing this course, I can answer questions and give information much more confidently than every before, and with that I am helping people better than I could before I started this course, I am happier to approach people as I am not so worried about what they may ask.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Unfortunately I am unable to join any thing remotely related to sport, but we often have things on out side of work, and lots of things inside for charity events and special days through out the year. I enjoy getting evolved as and when I can, raising money for charity and enjoying some less stressful time with my store colleagues.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Wickes to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I find that working here is like family, we are all accepted for who we are, there is little to no judgements and if something does come up it is soon stopped, I enjoy coming to work everyday and especially enjoy my training and the people I have met along the way that I would not have necessarily met at any other time.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Wickes?
  • It very simple to apply for work and apprenticeship rolls within the company, I spoke to my store manager who backed me up and helped me go for the right one for me, I am grateful that there is this opportunity within my work place to step up and improve my CV with qualifications gained on this course.
