Speaking to customers in the kitchen and bathroom showroom- Filling out details and adding them to the system for our designers to measure up there kitchen and bathroom to create the right design for them. Putting through orders and doing designs for customers. Recommending the right products for what they need
Yes, During my apprenticeship i have learnt loads of Technical skills- What appliances work with each other, looking at price differences to fit with the customers requirements. Understanding what parts of Kitchens and bathrooms with the technical side (plumbing/electrics etc) Going out on home visits assisting with the Designers,
I enjoy the programme due to what i am learning, it helps me with my every day role when advising customers, knowing what to advise them. I have learnt how to use the CAD systems on the computers to help design customers dream kitchens and bathrooms, along with advanced graphics to bring it to life
It is well structured, every module has one focus for us to learn. This way you are getting tons of information for one topic, so you can learn every part of the products/topic in one month. We have our own research to take part in awell and a chance to share our feedback
My Employer- Wickes has given me loads of support, Monthly reviews with my in store manager to go over what has been covered and how im finding the work load. The apprenticeship team are also supportive. We have monthly online webinars along side of other help when needed from them
i have recieved loads of support, the external trainers are really helpful if you need to get in touch with them after the training has been, i have been also sitting my maths training- i have been working with a maths tutor weekly to help me get closer to my exam
Due to me wanting to peruse a career in kitchen and bathroom design, the whole apprenticeship i am on focuses towards that, so the qualifications i will gain means that i have a huge understanding of my role and the skills required to take on the role when i finish with the apprenticeship
There are extra curricular activities to take part in. I know there are networking events, Bake off, Festivals to attend to meet new people, I haven yet attended any of these, due to them not being close enough to my house and with other commitments on a day to day basis
Yes
Wickes is a really good company to work for. Management (in store) are down to earth and encourage you to become better for promotions and working your way up the ladder. The support system has been great, making me feel at ease and comfortable with who i work for. But challenges me when i need to be pushed
Ask others you are working with for help, dont be afraid to ask loads of questions if you dont understand the work you are trying to do or if customers ask things you are unsure on. Everyone around you has also started new, so everyone has been in the same position
