I usually start my day with a team meeting, this is either online or in person, depending on the the team and also day of the week. As an intern, I had a senior who I worked with, this senior often provided me with work and also walked me through on what I should do to complete the work.
Definite developed skills. working in a team full of professionals, i developed my ability to engage with and learn from them, asking useful questions. I also learnt job specific skills, such as how to analyse and work with financial statements and client systems. I also learnt accounting principles from my team mates, when i asks them for help.
I enjoyed it, but not as much as i expected, primarily because of the work-life balance. The actual working hours wasn't the issue, rather the fact that after work, I had to study for my university exams in my free time. It felt as if there wasn't an opportunity to relax - especially when working on a busy engagement.
It was quite well organised, though there were some situations where myself and others doubted the organisation of the programme. For example when finding out whether or not we will be provided with accomodation, and also where we will be staying. We were only told where will live a few days before we had to move.
very good support. all staff are friendly and willing to help. we were also assigned a 'buddy' and a 'career coach', who were specifically chosen to help us through the programme. Regardless of whether we had a buddy or not, it is very easy to ask anyone for help, and will always get an answer.
not a lot - though we were assigned pre-recorded lectures and were given a textbook, there wasn't much on-going support provided. we did have access to email them whenever we had queries, but for the most part it felt as if they just handed us a text book and expected us to know exactly what to do.
i found that it is somewhat helpful, from what i have studied, i have found some crossover. this is particularly helpful, as nothing really 'surprised' me in terms of the knowledge required to carry out the work. I understood key terms when they were brought up, and had a brief understanding of most of the procedures i worked with.
there are work socials, which i had a few of. these socials are with the engagement team, and often include going out for a meal, drinks, or activities. there are also designated social groups, which regularly had social events. my social group had regular breakfasts together, and also had a minigolf social.
Yes
Great place to learn and develop key professional skills. Its also a great place to start off your professional career, primarily because there are so many new joiners. the consistent large amount of new hires indicates that PwC is good at training and developing individuals. A lot of people i met also joined as graduates, and have stayed for a long time - clearly PwC are doing something right.
From my time at PwC, i have found that there isn't a specific person PwC are looking for. I have met so many people, all from different backgrounds, personalities, expertise etc. So the best advice i can give is show that you are willing to do your best - this is a common characteristic among the people i met, they are hard workers.
