I was a Digital Audit associate for the 3 month placement with my role involving communicating and understanding a clients information systems and whether the IT controls implemented by the client were operating effectively throughout the financial year. Alongside this, I also assisted in documenting the findings of our walkthrough meetings.
I have developed my communication skills both internally and externally through posing questions to clients as well as my engagement teams throughout the process of the audit. I have learned to manage my time effectively and set priorities especially when placed on multiple clients.
Throughout the placement, I managed to network with colleagues in my local office as well as working with external colleagues based in other offices around the UK. I enjoyed this element of working as it allowed me to understand and learn different ways of working to achieve a similar goal.
The programme is extremely organised as it provides a balance between full time work and full time study. Throughout the placement, I was able to focus on client work only which helped to give me a flavour of what to expect when on the job full time.
I was fully supported during my time from colleagues such as career coaches, buddies, champions, programme managers and university contacts. Throughout engagements, support was provided by fellow associates, senior associates, managers and senior managers to ensure any queries or concerns were addressed.
We are supported throughout our training provider through lectures, seminars and various resources provided on our shared portal, Moodle.
Content and theory learnt in the lecture theater helps us to implement what we learn into practise. The content helps to provide us a baseline to the type of work we will be carrying out during our placement.
The office organise a number of socials and townhalls throughout the placement to provide an opportunity to network with colleagues in the same office or department. These extra curricular activities help us to meet junior and senior members of the firm.
