I'm a driver with Stagecoach and have started an apprenticeship in July 2020. My job involves working with the general public and taking them safely to places they wish to travel to. I like driving a double decker and enjoy the customer interaction, although, in these times it can be a challenge. I attend off the job training every month, which I find very useful in carrying out my day to day job driving a bus.
I've learnt how to better give a customer a top quality service. This includes driving smoothly and not braking harshly. I've also learnt the company policies and business models, which do help in understanding why I am doing something that helps provide a service.
I enjoy the programme very much and our tutors Dave Cooper and Sophie are approachable and friendly.
it seems well organised, and delivered in an easy to understand way.
Very good support. I get paid for the travel expenses and encouraged to attend the monthly sessions.
A lot of support and motivation to learn new things.
I find the monthly sessions good for keeping my skills base up to date with the legislation. For example it is good to refresh on the maximum hours I can drive in a day.
not sure
Yes
I am very happy working here. I like to get on with my job and when I am out in the bus, I am more or less, my own boss. I like to work and meet people.
I would suggest trying a day with a driver to see if it is the sort of job that might suit you.
