My role involves caring for children in the baby room throughout the day, from play time to personal care such as nappy changes and sleeps. We encourage lots to sensory play, singing and keeping the babies happy some of who are there for a very long day. And then I help with Tea club after nursery aswell.
Yes I have definitely learnt so many skills. Learning new routines, the different needs of each child and what I can do to support their learning and to develop their learning aswell. One big thing I've learnt is working eith children with special needs and how their needs are completely different dependent on the child.
I enjoy every single part of the programme, from working at the nursery with the children, to working with the staff in a team and also the coursework side of things too. The webinar is enjoyable and there is always so much help from both my tutor and any of the staff at rhe nursery.
Incredibly organised and structured. I have Monday (8.15-4) Tuesday and Wednesday (8.15-5) and Thursday (8.15-4) to get my working experience with the children and then Friday's to do webinars or work on my coursework for my assessments. I have also completed 1 term in the 2 year room and now spending a term in the baby room to ensure I get experience in all rooms in our setting.
Anything I need support with they are more than happy to help me. Not just my managers but also the other employees in the nursery. I can always ask anyone and they are more than happy to help. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] also delivers training some Fridays to broaden our knowledge in all different areas.
Again just like my employer, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] my tutor is always there whenever I need help. Her webinars are always full of information and she is always checking we are understanding and if we have any questions. We can also call, email or send her a message on onefile and she gets back to me incredibly quickly.
All of the stuff I'm learning on the webinars (working towards my qualification) has 100% helped me in my role at the nursery. I'm learning things I never knew before from positive reinforcement to how to manage difficult behaviour. An understanding of the EYFS and theories which impact our practice aswell.
At this particular moment there are none that I have heard of so far. I will speak eith my manager on Monday when I return to the nursery and see if there are any that may be open to me as this would definitely be an interest of min e.
