My role involves operating the cranes within the dockyard under the instructions of the slingers. We carry out these activities on a day to day basis.
I have learnt a number of new skills including slinging, operating the crane. I have also improved my communication skills whilst in the apprenticeship and I have improved being able to work well as a team.
I enjoy the programme I am currently on when driving the cranes. It has been a very good opportunity.
On babcocks side of things they always help out and are good with getting stuff sorted out. With our training company transplant mastertrain they don't always give lots of help. With theory work especially when needing to answer questions we aren't always shown the correct way or better wording for the questions
Babacock are great with giving support ant help I ever need from them all I need to do is ask. The managers are very helpful but the workers are also a big help. They all answer any questions or queries we normally have about the work or anything to do with the work.
We receive help to an extent but they take a while to get things done for us. They aren't always able to sort stuff out for us. The training provider is not in regular contact with us either. We are told to ring if we need help but they do not check in as regular as they should.
I feel the qualifications I have earned have helped me progress my career and I believe that this has helped me in my role.
As far as I know we do not have any teams your able to join up to. There are social activities which we are offered to and which we can attend with the rest of the team so this is good for interaction with others.
Yes
They are a great company to work for and they look after you as an employee. They always provide help and support when it is needed.
I would say when applying for babcock present yourself well and put some effort in because you will be recognised if you do these things when applying.
