Overall, my role is to prospect new business into the sales department in order to help the supply of applications into the business. Day-to-day, this involves solely phone calls via the phone to different dealerships to segment them/diagnose how much potential business we could look to receive from them.
Most definitely, communication would have to take the top spot for skills that have been developed. Through building relationships with dealers partners, I have had to be flexible in my approach to cater for the right individual. New skills would be organization, time keeping ,reliability by ensuring you follow up on items people have tasked you.
I certainly enjoy the programme, it has provided me with a lifetime opportunity to develop my educational skills and practically apply them which doesn't come around often. There were elements that were of concern to me and brought down my happiness such as pay and progression; however, these were both rectified once they had been spoken which ultimately leads me to enjoy the programme more.
I would argue this programme is well structured. When moving roles, I believe it is fair to say there could have been more structure then however this was a first for the sales force so was hard to narrow down what was needed. Mentor system is great and always supportive for what we need. It is worth noting, IMO I think there could be a better structure to allow us to better use our 20% as believe the line is not defined well enough to which what counts and what doesn't.
My support mechanisms have varied. Coming from my old job which was first year of uni I was very very supported and had regular catch ups. However, as the years have gone on the support networks have decrease in regrads to frequency which is fair enough due to individuals competence increasing. When moving roles internally, I believe there could have been more support as I went quite a long period of time without any 121's which is a common thing for FRF to facilitate.
A fair amount of support, no more than I would require. There is a lot of support out there that is readily available from the uni that you can proactively seek. The mentor from uni/course leader are good at communicating any changes. If I had to pinpoint any area of support that is needed further, it would be for support on the EPA to be more consistent so that it doesn't differ as often as it does.
Most defiantly, I wouldn't say that it has a direct link to performance however aid me in decision making in certain situation's as I have a better understanding of the topic. For example, I was able to incorporate some of digital technologies knowledge, when creating sales articles.
FRF provide lots of opportunity for this to happen e.. company events, one thing you can't knock FRF is there aim to please the people in regards to social activities. Each team is encouraged to go out together to strengthen their relationship which entails in a better working relationship.
Yes
First Response has given me a great opportunity to seize a degree as well as practically apply it at the same time. This time last year I answered no on the basis that I wasn't getting the progression that I was aiming for. Since then, things have been listened to and changes have been made which is really encouraging to see. I do believe there are areas to better further but that's the same with anything. If my friend wanted to slowly progress through the company whilst practically applying their knowledge, I would recommend them.
Heavily research the company and what their values are. Speak to as many people within the business as you can to understand what the culture is like. Be honest in what your goals/aspirations are to ensure that they align with the company and don't give up on any setbacks you encounter
