  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the induction and training was rather messy and unorganised and wasn't particularly structured. the training quality is good and there are multiple support systems if they are required. We are given some time in work to study and meet nvq and btec deadlines. tasks are delegated by line managers.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As an apprentice I receive a lot of support if I require it, from management and H R. If I need help with something I feel that I can always ask. I feel that line managers guidance to problem is extremely helpful. People seem to have a good attitude towards helping me as an apprentice.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I personally do not feel that my BTEC qualification helps better myself within my role. It does not seem particularly relevant to the tasks i undertake within work. The nvq on the other hand reflects the work that I do and allows me to take note of the things that i am doing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There aren't particularly any activities that i can get involved in outside of work, exept for friendships made with work associates. As an apprentice pour group often meets up socially. I like to exercise, walk, sail outside of work time, basically most outdoors activities. It would be great to see some volunteering opportunities from work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Babcock to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It pays extremely well compared to most employers within the region. They are a well recognised company. They have good employee benefits such as pension. They pay for qualifications and training. They give a reasonable amount of leave. I enjoy the work that I undertaken day to day. I find it interesting.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • The application process is lengthy, you have to apply online, then if you are shortlisted you have to do an online test. Then if you pass that phase you have to go to an interview. Then if you get through that stage you go to interview. No expertise necessary as all training is received.
