I work as a care assistant for a client with complex needs. I assist with all aspects of his care such as eating/drinking, dressing, personal care, toileting, social activities amongst many others.
I have learned a lot about complex needs of clients such as tracheostomy and ventilator care, and also how to care for a man who is paralyzed.
I find the content a little boring having worked in care for a number of years and already completed the level 2 qualification.
It was a bit unorganized at first due to changing tutors but it seems better now I have the same tutor as it is more consistent.
Minimal support but I have never gone to my employer and asked, it is easier and quicker to contact my tutor.
My training provider is on-hand to assist when needed.
It has given me more knowledge and understanding of the importance of certain things such as legislation and helps me to understand the reasons why things are done in a certain way.
No extra activities that I have been made aware of at the current time.
Yes
above average pay, nice care staff to work with, very supportive of each other.
It is a 0 hour contract only so not ideal if you want something more permanent as the hours are not always guaranteed.
