I basically have to be mindful of my patients as they are mentally challenged so I have to safeguard when I m the security nurse. I have an important role to observe them as well for sign of life in general observations. I assist with clinical and physical needs.
I have learnt quite a lot of skills in Safeguarding, physical health of my patients, I have also been able to improve on basic life support, monitoring of physical health. I have improved my skills in therapeutic activities. I find it very useful to develop new knowledge or skills.
I love the program because its a simple and straightforward way of learning and developing skills. I have enjoyed the material and its self-explanatory and by the time you meet with your tutor you will be having basic knowledge about your course and it helps to save time.
The presentation and discussions that we have on a monthly basis are very detailed and accurate and when preparing for a module you can actually predict whether you will be able to pull through or not. It's so easy to use the material and content, so precise.
They are always calling especially my ward manager to help me with any challenges, whether it's part of my assessments or something to do with my personal upkeep so that I can put my weight and focus on the programme and utilise my time effectively and efficiently.
It's really tremendous support in bec our tutors have got several tutorial sessions lined up for us and we have a dedicated team to help with any challenge as far as the programme is concerned, very flexible and easy to work with such that we can adjust our time.
I have already seen results and serious progress in the past few months. I have been taught certain aspects and skills on how to handle patients but it was not comprehensive and with my training provider, my eyes have been opened and I have a much better understanding now.
Yes we have group gatherings to refresh and build team relationships. We have babaque, ward staff parties, drinks out and outings to get to know each other better and relate better as team players without the pressure of being in the work environment and it really helps a lot.
