I enjoyed working through the theory and how this was then applied to the working environment. It was also good to realise how much learning I was doing on the job anyway that helped my personal development. I also think more reflectively about my working day and plan things thoroughly.
I did enjoy the programme at times although it was very frustrating to complete the workbooks only to find that they were not the full copies. It would have been easier to work through a whole topic before moving onto the next area of work. I enjoyed the interaction with the tutor.
The programme did feel unorganised at too many point in time in my opinion. It felt that we jumped around the topics and it would have been more useful to stick to an area until completion. This was difficult however when we were forced into lockdown and met online mostly.
I had good support from my line manager who was also completing a similar scheme at the time. He gave time for me to present my project and was available to offer support throughout and check and challenge where required. He also provided key work experiences to help develop.
We did have lots of support that was available and [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was very attentive and willing to help. It was difficult for [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] at times as she was picking up a new program and was learning this herself which could be a little frustrating at times simply because we had to learn with her, that is not a criticism.
I have a deeper awareness of the the working environment and I am now more reflective on my work. I have developed a deeper understanding of organisational practices and use my time more productively which has increased my working output. I also am more willing to spend time researching new areas to improve.
The nature of our industry makes it difficult to have extra curricular activities as we work unsocialble hours. We do have a good group of staff that help and support each other and there would be opportunities to socialise at times. We hold regular meetings which help facilitate a good working environment.
Yes
The company were well organised in general, this in comparison to our previous provider was a massive step forward. The tutor kept us on target with our work and was available for regular support and contact throughout the journey. I would recommend because it has made me more effective at my job.
I would advise that they carefully consider how they can balance the work alongside a full time job role. You will need to make sacrifices to your time and be willing to work extra hours to complete. The on the job learning and better awareness was the key factor in making me develop.
