My job title is a software engineer. This role includes writing, implementing, and testing of GEN and SQL code. It also includes writing high level technical documents and reviewing documents for fellow colleagues. On a day to day basis I'm also involved in stand up meetings with management to talk about where we are with our current workload. I also attend a part time foundation degree in Computer Science sponsored by Capgemini at Wolverhampton University.
I have learned many new skills such as Java, SQL, UNIX and GEN code, aswell as how to write a technical document. I have also developed my interpersonal skills such as communication.
I enjoy the program thoroughly and feel like it was a very good career choice.
I feel very valued by Capgemini as they are always attentive to apprentice's needs. This includes being constantly updated by the Apprenticeship management team and being flexible with work hours due to high workload at university.
The program is very well structured and the apprenticeship program has its own review process in place for apprentices only.
I attend university for 1 day a week and receive support from my tutor there. If i have any questions i can also email them out of university hours.
I receive a good amount of support from my employer as they are always understanding with any help that i need or any concerns that i have.
As an apprentice the salary is very competitive to what is currently on the market.
There are many opportunities to get involved with within Capgemini out of work, such as charity events and volunteering.
Yes
I have already recommended Capgemini to multiple friends.
Take the time to do some research on what the company currently does and research things your role may involve.
