I am a tech sales apprentice I work in the Salesforce practice my day to day role has me working on bids for companies related to my sector. I also complete training to help me gain more knowledge on the software I sell and also to help towards my Apprenticeship.
I have learnt many new skills such as communication through various media like webex and slack as well as how to professionally communicate through them. I have also learnt invaluable skills through learning days and course that have since helped me in my days to role as well as my apprenticeship.
I really enjoy the program I enjoy the interactions I get with senior staff, business partners and clients which not only help me built on my personal skills but also help towards my role and helping me better understand my role. I also enjoy the social life and meeting up with various different apprentices from IBM.
My programme is very well structured not only do I attend weekly meetings with my apprenticeship manager and other apprentices to talk through general items I also am able to see a timeline for apprenticeship to help me better understand where I should be in my journey as an apprentice.
I receive a lot of support not only do I have a task manager who is aligned to my job role I also have a foundation manager to help guide me through my apprenticeship, a mentor who has been through the same apprenticeship and gone off to a degree apprenticeship and also an apprentice who has completed their apprenticeship in my aligned job role.
A lot of support I have a day each week we’re I am able to complete apprenticeship work which may include online learning, classroom learning, completing badges and also completing write ups to put towards my portfolio. I also have constant support from my manager over any concerns I may have.
I feel that all of the courses I have taken so far I have been able to use what I have learnt into my day to day work and also been able to integrate it into my teams work. This has helped me perform a lot better and feel more comfortable in my role.
There are many communities within IBM that you can get involved in. Most Thursdays many apprentices, interns and grads etc. will go into the office which helps greatly with networking but also slows you to meet new people, we also have socials in our practices every quarter which have been modified since th e lockdown to happen online.
Yes
The community around both foundation at IBM and just the general IBM is amazing. Everyone I’ve met so far are extremely welcoming and always happy to help with any questions I have. The style of learning is very well layered out and allows for an easy and also applied learning style.
I would ensure to research about IBM and there values as this will help not only in the application but also during your onboarding if successful. I would also encourage you to be yourself as this is what they want to see as well as to not stress and try and be relaxed.
