So I work in the central team, so all business units to an extent report back to us. So usually do consolidations of multiple trading PPs as well as reports for example debt reports that get sent to superiors. I have been involved with some projects by doing activities such as reconciling figures.
So I am currently in the process of completing my L3 AAT. So I would have time within my working hours to progress through that. This would include watching lectures, revision and also taking the exams. As well as that I have also been developing my excel skills. I know a lot more than I did before the apprenticeship with such things as V Lookups and conditional formating.
The team is amazing. There is 6 of us and everyone is really friendly and open to helping me when I need it. My manager is funny and does steer me when needed. The company culture is great. everyone is casually but professional. They are all easy to contact which is extremely convenient. This does for the most part meet my expectations. I do most definitely enjoy it.
The induction was enriching. It consisted of 2 days on zoom due to covid. It was engaging and had fun activities at the end of it. The training was fine and there was support where needed. Studying was fine although sometimes the BPP weren't too helpful this wasn't a regular occurrence. I think the programme is most definitely organised. It is easy to know what team you need to reach out to when having an issue.
I get a good amount of support. I have monthly 1 on 1s with my manager as well as monthly checkups from the apprenticeship team. The accessibility to support is great. again as I said its easy to know who the relevant person to talk to when there is an issue.
They send out regular emails asking me how everything in which you can just reply to and they'll get back to you when they can. Although I have had a couple of incidents where their answers have been helpful but eventually I do get a sufficient answer. I do enjoy it as it can be quite convenient to just email them whenever I have an issue
The qualification definitely helps when it comes to my role. As it provides me with the context I need to understand what I am doing. I 100% know more about finance than I did a couple of months ago. Taxes, books of prime entry, debit and credit entries are all things I now have a good understanding of.
I do join virtual events that come up on my calendar that I like to understand what is going on in DHL or in finance. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance yet to be at a professional networking event but if I was invited I would most definitely join it.
Yes
Everyone is friendly and nice. It is a big company meaning you have a would range of opportunities to take on allowing you to progress further in your career. In my opinion, it is a no brainer to join a business like DHL. They have amazing values and really do care about being an employer of choice.
Just be yourself and mostly do not doubt yourself after any interviews or assessment days. I thought I did rubbish but turns out I did great. Always take on any opportunity they give you as that'll give you a better chance of getting through. I wish I got told how big the business was and what it entailed as that would have motivated me more but I did try my best and thankfully got in.
