I assist the sale coordinator in completing deals from start to finish, communicating internally with multiple teams, keeping on top of everything and implementing small changes to keep the teams streamlined, and recently, researching the provenance of works consigned to us.
Coming straight from school, I've learnt to communicate professionally and efficiently, how to time manage and through the multiple brilliant training courses provided by Christie's, learnt my personal brand and how to present confidently. My apprenticeship has given me vital Excel and Power BI skills.
I enjoy it immensely. Everyone at Christie's and Multiverse are super friendly and supportive. I love coming into the office and there is always something new- on the course and at Christie's, where gallery displays change and you work with new pieces and deals.
Induction and training at the start was very plentiful and helpful, and helped me fit into my role and still now, I have weekly mentor meetings and check ups from work. I would say though that the provider Multiverse can be quite difficult to understand in terms of structure.
I continually receive support from both my managers, with weekly catch-ups, and they are always available for me. You aren't ever lost on what you are meant to be doing either. HR regularly checkup on us and there is a whole team that offers training whenever you need it.
I have monthly meetings with my coach where we discuss my assignments and set objectives for the month. There are also monthly workshops for the modules and my coach is quick to respond to anything. We can always work through any problems.
I have been able to put mainly my Excel skills that I have learnt to use at work and they've been very helpful. Through the course, I have been able to explore my company and the industry and I have developed skills such as communication, making insights and being proactive.
Especially when COVID restrictions are light, there are many social events organised and held by Christie's, such as cinema nights and terrace gatherings. Often, there is a run around Hyde Park and a day for volunteering with proceeds going to our charity of the year.
Yes
It is a comfortable and supportive place to work in and it gives you a sense of purpose and impact. They are very dynamic and you can care for works of art whilst shaping the art market for the future. They have forward thinking goals and initiatives that make you proud of where you work.
It was a rigorous recruitment process, which allows you to be placed in the best suited role, so be yourself. Definitely reach out and ask as many questions as you can, even if you think it's stupid, since the recruitment team gives you all the support that you need. Do not stress too much about the interviews or assessment days.
