  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently sit in our stock logistics function in a planning role. This involves me having frequent communication with our suppliers, placing orders, ensuring stock is in the correct location at the correct time and always striving to maintain and improve the service with provide to our customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The apprenticeship has allowed me to learn and develop so many skills. With being employed in a full time job but also still being in higher education, I get the best of both worlds and have developed because of this.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme so far and look forward to my remaining few years. I've gained so much invaluable experience, met so many new people and friends and I've also been able to work towards a degree which is also really enjoyable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is extremely well structured. DHL have always made it clear what we will be doing on our programme and when. We have two, two year placements whilst studying a degree over 4 years and the university have also been very clear how this works too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received so much support from DHL during my programme. Both in my day to day role from line managers and colleagues and I've always been given enough study time to complete my university aspect of my role. But also from DHL's 'Emerging Talent' which look after us apprentices.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Aston University have also been great at providing a good level of support and if we have ever had any issues or problems they have been quickly answered and resolved.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The Supply Chain Management degree I am studying matches up perfectly with many aspects of my job and the industry DHL operate in. I have taken away so many different things from my qualification and used them in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many different activities to get involved in at DHL Supply Chain. There are frequent online calls about a vast variety of topics from mental health to being a leader in the workplace. There are also extras to get involved in person such as litter picking events for our go green scheme.

  • 9a. Would you recommend DHL to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • DHL is an exceptional company to work for. I have felt so much support since taking on my role and my managers around me have always been keen to help with my development in any way possible. Also as a company as a whole, there are so many different avenues for future opportunities and so many different ways to shape my career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DHL?
  • Just be yourself and be confident, the application process can be daunting but it is there to bring out the best of applicants. It's a great experience, so just ensure you prepare for any assessments and interviews as best as possible and have fun!
