In my job role, I create drawings and documents to a high standard that meet with health and safety documents. They provide information to a construction team who facilitate the changes and deploy them on site. We also undertake on-foot site surveys to determine the conditions of the sites and what repairs are needed on pavement.
During my time at Kier, i have developed many Skills. I have completely Learnt a new skill in that I now Know how to use Autocad 2D to a professional level. I also have learnt how to use Civils 3D. Alognside this I have gained a lot of professional knowledge in the industry.
I really enjoy working with Kier. They are an exceptional employer, and they always support me in a multitude of ways. This Is through university and through my everyday employment. They provide me with regular catch-ups and meetings to monitor my progress and give me honest feedback to help me improve.
The program I am on has been well organized. we are in constant contact with my mentors at university and work. Kier has made sure that my university is very clear and supports me whenever needed. Also, Coventry University are very punctual in that they provide us with clear dates for our block release.
Kier is very supportive. they provide me with all the relevant equipment needed to progress through my course. They also are very punctual and helpful with organizing block release dates and hotels for us to stay at. this is very beneficial as it gives us more time to focus on whats important.
Coventry University is very supportive. They are always on hand and the course leaders have passed on their details if an issue arises. Also, Teachers have made it clear that any issues we have, they are able to be contacted via teams and Email. This helps massively as it provides us with peace of mind.
My Course helps in my job role as we study things that are relevant and specific to my role. For Example, currently, i am studying transportation engineering and surveying. These are both relevant and helpful for on-foot site visits and pavement schemes. It is also relevant to other areas such as structures and Geotechnical engineering.
No, Currently they are postponed due to COVID. Prior to COVID work frequently ran out of work activities such as football (5 aside) and occasionally out of Office CPD's or continual professional development activities/lectures are run. These are very helpful and give us a real insight into our changing industry
Yes
Kier is very supportive, helpful, and overall a great company to work for. Management is very helpful and they always push us to advance in our careers in any way we can. They also encourage us to gain professional Titles with professional institutions such as the ICE and Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
When applying for a role at Kier, ensure that you are driven and prove your worth. Although Kier is a large company, they are still people, and first impressions matter. A key thing for me in my role is common sense and initiative. These 2 factors alone can prove to be a key learning tool.
