At the start of my apprenticeship, I was involved in a a lot of workshop activities, but more recently I have been at more design based tasks, such as becoming the project manager for a end of year project. As well as this I spend 2 days a week at ocean gate where I partake in lessons, to complete exams and coursework.
Yes, I have greatly improved my cad skills, in the way that I have learnt how to use a series of different softwares to create different 3D and 2d drawings. I have also now got a excellent understanding on how a series of different machines are used around the workshop.
I enjoy it rather a lot. In particular I would say that I have enjoyed the cad aspect the most, as it is my passio when it comes to engineering as a while. However I do still enjoy the other aspects that the apprenticeship has provided. Such as croci tack thinking skills and hands on skills.
Unfortunately I have to say that the level of organisation from Babcock has not been great. I spend a good few months just going with the flow of things, not really understanding my end goal for this apprenticeship, I now have a a better understanding, however I believe this could be improved.
I am not sure today this yet as I have not undergone a scenario yet where I would be in need of my employers support directly. However on the whole, and my understanding from others I believe that the support is not great, so this could be improved z z
I have revolved a Greta amount of support from the college throughout the year so far, for example they are always keen for us to learn new techniques of the trades, and helping me work on side projects, by pointing me in the right direction. Z z z z z
The cad skills I have gained, will be a great tool when I approach the dockyard.
