A HNC in electrical and electronic engineering gives me the base understanding in electrical engineering, which will eventually help me in the work place

Yes
It's a unique experience, once you get into the workplace, or so I believe.
Having prior knowledge will definitely be helpful, as starting without any makes it much more difficult to progress
