  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, my role involves answering phone calls from customers and or emails that come through to the specific mailboxes. I deal with individual customers as well as large companies and different suppliers, every phone call is different with new claims to log or problems to solve.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I started in this role without having any clue about insurance or more to do with this area of business or even cars. I started fresh and everything I know now was once a big mystery to me but now I am slowly becoming a professional in the fields taht I have now gained expertise.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship programme because of the work environment I am in. the company allows me to progress throughout the company learning new fields of work as well as helping me complete my apprenticeship work. It is the nice balance of both working and studying worlds put into one.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programmes is generally well structured with regular meetings with the specific apprenticeship coach as well as regular meetings with a technical advisor and my team leader. All these put together along with online tools and websites help build a strong structure to the apprenticeship programme and walk me through the correct process.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In the beginning there wasn't the greatest amount of support or provided hours to complete my work, however with time and consultation with my leader I was able to make the company understand the amount of hours that are needed for the apprenticeship. Since then I have been provided with even greater support than before.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider assigned an individual coach for me who was there to help and support me throughout my way in the apprenticeship with regular meetings, quick answers to my emails and additional call sessions whenever I needed that extra explanation regarding some topic. My coach was very open and supportive, which made me enjoy it more.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification provided by the training provider allows me to get a deeper insight on other areas of my work that sometimes I might not have direct contact with, however, that background knowledge is always helpful in understanding more complex issues in the company or individual claims. Due to this additional knowledge I am able to perform better in assignments or helping out my colleagues.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The individual team that you're in in the company have regular social gatherings, where you're able to see your colleagues outside of work and have some fun. The company also offers a day off work to do volunteering work every year. Through the company's social media group you're able to meet and talk to other people in the company who have similar interests like you and join in group social events etc.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company offers a lot of benefits on top of the yearly salary, which supports you and your family when you least expect it. The people who work in the company are all friendly and great people to work with. RSA offers individual growth in the company and improving your skills on a regular basis.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Insurance Ltd?
  • The best advise is to be yourself. Do not think that you always need experience to gain a job. Be confident and not afraid to ask for help or to work in a team as well as individually. After all if they see you as a great candidate and someone they can see themselves working with then you have a great shot. Show off your shining personality.
