  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Processing external payrolls, admin type work, updating spreadsheets, uploading pensions and payslips, pension declarations.

    5/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • How to process payrolls, I had no knowledge of this before I started. I have gained qualifications on Sage Payroll. Everything I know about payroll and pay I have learnt here.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning so it is quite enjoyable for me. My work does not have much to do with my apprenticeship so they are quite separate and no one else in my office is on the apprenticeship with me so it can be quite lonely.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have formal reviews quite frequently so there is a lot of support from my tutor. My tutor lets me pick the module we learn and understands that I like to keep the course very structured so I know what I have not yet learnt and what I can revise.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager does not involve themselves with my apprenticeship, so does not attend the formal reviews, however the Payroll Group Leader does. My manager occasionally asks how I am getting on. I am often quiet at work so they are happy for me to do a lot of my apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor sets up teams calls with me whenever I ask for them, however we often arrange a call every three to four weeks. During these calls we go through anything I am struggling on and we go through a trickier module together. I can always email for help too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have learnt how to process payroll with my employer, but I have learnt why we do what we do and implications etc with my tutor. I have gained a deeper understanding of payroll, as well as manual calculations and legislation.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not since I have worked there due to covid.

    5/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lovewell Blake to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Welcoming place to work, majority of employees are training, even though not in payroll. Flexible with working hours

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lovewell Blake?
  • Show loyalty and how eager you are to learn.
