  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am thoroughly enjoying my course at the moment, the team I work with at Mansfield District Council are extremely supporting and encourage me to be involved in all aspects of the day to day job. The work is still challenging for me which I love as this means I am always learning something new. My training provider is also very supporting and my tutor is always on hand for any extra support I feel that I may need.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that programme that has been created for me internally by Mansfield District Council is very good and well organised. Upon my start date my line manager had created individual folders for all the main areas of audit, with PowerPoint presentations. We booked sessions into my diary to go through all of these things, with reflection time after each for any questions. I have daily meetings with my line manager to provide support and we also hold team meetings every fortnight. I am given plenty of time to complete both my on the job work and my apprenticeship and this is very flexible. With regards to delegation I have already been assigned my own solo audit to lead on after just 3 months of being on the programme. I now support on all audits to increase my knowledge and build my confidence.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive daily support from my line manager and senior auditor, they will regularly check I am ok with the workload I have, if I need any assistance. They invite me to meetings if they feel it will be beneficial for me. Both available by phone or email during working hours. I also have support from an internal talent and skills advisor who works with me to support and ensure I am happy in my apprenticeship. I have monthly meetings with her to discuss my progress and workload.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have monthly meetings with my tutor, from my training provider. Each of my sessions is focussed on one of the main areas around the IIA Course with the support to pass my apprenticeship. Main contact with my tutor is via email, sometimes there may be delays in receiving replies from her. I sometimes feel that the work set, is not enough to last until the next session in 4 weeks time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification will be an additional benefit to me in my role, as it shows from a graded standard that I trained and knowledgeable in the Audit Sector. My sessions I am moving onto now, will help me in my day to day role. I will be learning all about actions and processes that I can implement daily into my role. I don't necessarily feel that I know more about my role from my apprenticeship, I feel that may be because I had such an indepth intensive induction form my employer.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Mansfield District Council offers discounted gym memberships to all employees that can be used across the area. They have a flexible working policy to ensure all staff can control and benefit from great work/home life balance. They offer health and wellbeing activities throughout the year to attend such as healthy eating events etc. They also have a dedicated Facebook page for employees only, important information is shared on here, but it is also used to network with other colleagues and departments across the council.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mansfield District Council to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They have a great flexible working policy, pension and holiday entitlement. There is lots of room for progression and I have found them to be very supportive with my apprenticeship. Mansfield District Council offer many benefits and perks to its employees. They are always looking to improve and make Mansfield a better place to live, work and socialise.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mansfield District Council?
  • The application process can be quiet extensive, be confident and honest in all of your answers. I received regular updates throughout my application process and they were very clear on the steps to help me into my role. There are lots of training events and programmes that can be attended to improve and develop as an individual, or in your role. I don't feel there is anything that I would have liked to have been told, I came to my apprenticeship from and internal role within the council. This role was available for internal and external candidates to apply for.
