For the majority of the year, my daily tasks are for University work, completing lectures, worksheets and courseworks. Then, when on placement, I help out a team for the summer/third year. In my first placement I was mainly organising and displaying data using alteryx and Tableau. I also had some interaction with UIPath, but this was limited.
Yes, everything there have been a wide range of skills that I have learnt at University as well as technology platforms when on placement such as Alteryx, Tableau and a little UIPath. There are also various opportunities to develop work skills in the engagement sessions throughout the University section of the year,
I find University stressful but that's not at fault of PWC. I felt like we were given time wasting tasks at the start of the placement and we could have been stretched a bit more when in teams, it didn't feel like real work experience. It felt like most of this was due to being unorganised.
As mentioned above, I felt that it was not very well organised and due to this, we were given time filler training. Whilst this training was useful, I didn't feel like it should have taken up the first 4 weeks. The team I was allocated to however seemed very well organised but unfortunately didn't have enough work for all of us and so led to a slight lack of structure.
I feel like are a very reliable source to go for to get help with personal or work issues. Everyone responded to me fairly quickly when I messaged them via google chats, however the email I sent to them was missed. When in contact with them, they act quickly and seem to care greatly about what I am asking
I feel like this was too much, we were given many different examples of how to use the software that they use within the company. These were helpful at first but vastly overdone and I felt like my time would have been better spent if I was given actual work on this software so that I felt as though I was contributing at least somewhat.
I feel like the things I learn at University haven't yet been applied to anything I've done on placement. The only thing I could say to the contrary is that I have continued to build problem solving skills at University, which I do also use on placement. I am hoping that in this placement, I will be able to do some programming, or something similar.
There are networking events but these are often Otley runs and I have often not felt comfortable going to many bars whilst COVID has been a concern. Would be better if there were more events in the office so that those of us with similar worries could feel more safe.

This degree apprenticeship has given me an amazing opportunity to experience University life whilst also gaining work experience alongside. It also means that I do not have to focus on budgeting and allowed me to take part in societies that I wouldn't have been able to without this, such as skydiving.
PWC look for people that align with their values. Ensure that you show examples of why you agree with them and how you relate to them personally. I would also suggest seeking out extra work whilst on placement if they feel like they are not being challenged enough as PWC are more than happy to help, I believe they just don't want to overload people.
