My Role as an Apprentice is to move around the business and to learn about what different departments do in their roles and to gain an understanding of how the business operates, setting me up for the role of becoming a Internal Sales Executive.
I have learnt all about the Sales world and how to make a sale, and gain confidence in talking to clients. The apprenticeship has taught me to manage my time well and above all else, whenever i need help it will always be offered at Tech Data.
I under estimated how much i would enjoy Sales, but i feel comfortable and enjoy the fast pace environment, with competing with the other Internal Sales Executives on the phones to try and make out the most calls to the accounts that i look after.
The programme is very well run and that is shown by the knowledge and skills gained whilst completing the apprenticeship and shown by the existing apprentices thriving in the environment.
Within Tech Data no matter how big the task there is always someone who will take the time out to answer your questions and more importantly show you how to complete the task so you are able to do this with ease in the future.
In the first six months of the apprenticeship there is lots of different training sessions with GK, helping you to understand the correct way of talking to customers but also when to put your foot down with them, which is also a transferable skill into life skills. Throughout the whole time of being an apprentice there is a 1to1 monthly review with the development coach to see how i am progressing in the company.
I have had lots of different training sessions around all aspects of sales leaving me comfortable with the job that i am given and shows by the relationship i have with the customers because i do not feel like they try to walk all over me but at the same time i will do anything i can on my end to make it a pleasure working with Tech Data.
There is always something happening at Tech Data away from work to gain a better relationship with the people that you work with. Including weekly drinks down the local pub with team mates and other people in the business, and also a benefit for £5 a month to go to places like the cinema and local clubs.
Yes
It is a great company to work for who take such good care of their employees and are always trying to think of more ways to make it a fun environment for the team to work in. There is also an incredible amount of benefits that Tech Data have to offer and setting you up perfectly for a role within the world of Technology.
Jump in to anything and everything, do not be afraid to embarrass yourself when they have a crazy incentive on that day, and always talk to as many co-workers around the business because you never know where and when it will come in handy to know everyone. I would recommend Tech Data to anyone for the careers they have to offer.
