My role is an internal sales executive which consists of me working along SMB teams to sell our end point solutions. I have just recently been moved to an account management role which means i speak to my accounts on a day to basis helping resolve issues and track orders.
I have learnt so many new skills being apart of TechData, i have always been confident but my way of orally by phone to customers has improved massively. Additionally i have learnt amazing people skills as everyone in the workplace is so welcoming and helpful. We have undertaken so many technical sessions as well as sales training pieces which has furthered my knowledge too.
I couldn't have chosen a better place to work and i mean that. I worked at another AI company doing a sales apprenticeship and Techdata is just in a different league. The amount of support i have had throughout is second to none and the team which i work alongside are friends i see outside of work too. When it comes down the work side of things everyday i enjoy going to work and seeing how each day i can improve each day.
This program has been organised from the second we start at Techdata. All main training was done nearer the start of the scheme so we could incorporate in our day to day jobs. We have had constant communication with our apprentice coach from GK and they work closely with our manager. We know exactly what we are meant to be doing, how to carry out our portfolio, constant catch up sessions so we can see how every apprentice is getting along.
My manager is the best manager i could for as she is understanding and supportive no matter what situation occurs. Its important to be able to be open how with how you feel and i can do exactly that. Networking around the business is far easier than i expected, as i have spoke to many different employees in different section. We have many different places to go to speak to people if you need support.
I have a monthly meeting with our coach for at least an hour to go over how much progress i have made on my portfolio which is beyond helpful. However we do also have frequent conversations over email and i send him updated versions of portfolio. In march due to COVID dying down we are having a face to face meeting in our office with our coach one on one as well. I get along well with the training providers as we have also worked with HIVE and the women who ran the session was so supportive and engaging.
What i am learning on a day to day basis has a huge impact on how i perform in my role. I need to know how to communicate effectively with customers depending on the situation and we have had plenty of training on right and wrong things to do with customers. We have a theory called trusted advisor which is only in tech data where customers come first and we have a variety of different platforms int he business which work towards benefiting our customers. I know my job role as well as the apprenticeship inside out as we have always had a set plan of where we need to go next.
We have already had quite a few meet ups outside of work hours as on a Friday majority of smb sales co workers will meet at the local pub for a drink and a catch up. One activity which had taken place during work was Just dance on the sales floor. We were having dancing competitions between teams which allowed for some team building. We have different voluntary events like a mindfulness session to relax after a long week of work. As well as this we have an outward bound trip to the lake district with all the apprenticeships which im really looking forward too as well.
Yes
Because its a supportive and fun place to work with many different career paths avaible too you. They offer a technical sales apprenticeship but its not where you need to stay for your whole career. All senior members of staff want to see you do well and want to take on apprentices as we know a lot more about the business than others by the end.
Be yourself as that what i did and managed to get the job and it was the best decision ive situation made. Make sure to listen and take on all advice given as it is there to help you improve. I would like to have been told about the experience sooner as the retention rate for people staying on after apprenticeship is 92%.
