As a 1st Assistant Manager I run the shop floor side of the business and my Business Manager runs the business (office) side of our restaurant. I run multiple systems including hiring and retention, people and discipline.
Having never attending university and climbing myself up my career ladder it has really opened my eyes to educational settings, especially returning as an adult. It has taught me in more detail about a business I have already been in for 13 years.
It is hard at times going it externally and having such long time between attending the actual educational setting however the resources are next to none and you are communicated with every step of the way.
Fantastic resources, always someone on hand to help or answer questions, things set up well in advance to help ease of attendance around work.
Choosing a line manager before embarking on the course really helps as they are my point of contact throughout, they push for the time I require and regularly check in with my skills coach.
Next to none. They push me in all areas and ensure the support is always available.
I have knowledge now that I never had before, this helps me immensely in moving up my career ladder and having those conversations with hierarchy.
No we don’t have that type of network within our franchise.
Yes
They support your career movement, despite what you think may hold you back in personal circumstances. It is an active, fun job with so many opportunities and internal support.
Be yourself, don’t be scared of hard work and let your personality shine through.
