Operational management for 0-19 Universal Services. I manage Health Visitors, School Nurses, Support Practitioners and children's centres. The team supports families to meet their physical and emotional needs. We visit families in the home, schools and family hubs.
Delegation, change management, project management, operational management tools. I've gained confidence in public speaking and in team meetings. I've gained confidence and learned how to manage difficult conversations and support staff with complex health needs and work with external partners.
I really enjoyed the apprenticeship. Having never done a course of this kind before, I liked the way it was personalised to my current role and I was able to get the most out of it because of this, as everything was relevant to me.
It was very well structured. As we were the first cohort, I didn't full understand what was expected throughout the course from the start, however this is very much in place now for the newer students. It didn't really impact me though.
I found it difficult to always manage to get time within my role to do the apprenticeship as I don't feel that my employer understood how much work was needed from the start.
I got lots of support throughout the course and I was really pushed in areas that I found difficult, which ultimately helped me get a distinction. I always felt listened to and got a quick response when needed.
Everything I learned within the course has helped me within my new role. I got a promotion during the course and utilise what I learned on a day to day basis. I think all new managers should do this apprenticeship.

I feel that they are committed to developing their own and that comes from the top.
If it is a career that you want to progress within, to let your line manager know, to put yourself out there, as they will listen and opportunities for progression are often available.
