In my role I provide admin support to teams around the business. In my first year I have worked in 4 different placements of the business to gain knowledge and skills in different areas. My day to day tasks include managing calendars, scheduling meetings, sending out documents, updating systems, making calls, sending out emails, working on spreadsheets, placing orders, collecting quotes.
Since coming to Babcock, I have gained many skills. I have improved my communication skills and my writing skills such as writing constructive and formal emails. I have gained a lot of confidence and learnt new skills such as: teamwork, problem solving, collaboration, and IT skills within different programmes (like Outlook / Excel / Adobe)
I really enjoy my placement, I feel a part of the team and I am not discriminated for being an apprentice. I really like the company's approach to apprenticeships and the way they treat their employees.
My program is organised very well, and I'm super happy with support I have received. I have had regular meetings with my college tutor, including workbook workshops, catch up meetings and support at any time if needed. My managers have always given me enough time for my college work and have always given me support if needed. I have received a lot of training from my managers and teams to allow me to develop and learn new skills in my role.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. They always ensure I have enough work to do throughout the day, but also ensure I'm not overloaded with work. I have regular performance check ins and catch up to ensure I am satisfied with my work and do not have any problems. If there is a problem my employer would support me to overcome it.
My trainer provider has been great, he has given me support as of when needed. He has provided me with a lot of examples on how I can work towards my qualification. I have achieved a distinction as I have just finished my exams. He has helped me with mock assessments as well as workbook workshops and continuous support through guidance and information packs.
I think my qualification has really helped me with the training part of my role. Therefore I would say it has helped me a lot to perform well in my role as I was able to understand the tasks and perform them well at a high standard. The apprenticeship standard allowed me to focus on key topics of my role and gain knowledge I need to perform well in that area.
I am aware that there is social events out there however I have not been involved in any. I have been to few socials with other apprentices however I don't think this relates to activities asked in the question.
Yes
I am very satisfied working at Babcock. They treat their employees really well and really care about individuals goals and achievements. Babcock recognises individuals when they perform. The agile working means that people can work from home. Babcock is very collaborative and it is great to meet new people and teams every day as the company is very big you get to meet a lot of new people. Babcock salary for apprenticeships is also very high therefore this is definitely a bonus.
Make sure you read about the company and what we do, Babcock likes to see that the individual has done the research and is keen on working for us.
