Working within the recruitment team, I put my HR skills into practise to attract, recruit and retain team members to join Mitchells & Butlers. I also have the opportunity to put marketing skills in practice, making my role a very varied and interesting combination of two huge departments where no two days are ever the same
Completing a HR focused apprenticeship has opened my eyes to all the different areas of HR and also allowed me to hear from loads of different companies about how they approach simliar topics. I then take these skills back to Mitchells & Butlers to improve our day to day business and implement new approaches
I really enjoy my programme - it gives me time away from my day to day job to really think about bigger issues and how to approach them. I enjoy meeting apprentices from different companies and different industries and hearing what they are up to aswell - this is where I learn the most!
Very well organised - I have set meetings with my tutor every 12 weeks, classes to attend every 4 weeks and work set in between. There is also emphasis on meeting up with my classmates outside of classes which gives the opportunity to forge friendships that support with assignments/additional work
I received loads of support from my employer - they attend my catch up sessions to hear about where I am up to on the programme, and they also give me time to complete assignments when needed. They have also given me exposure to the projects as needed to further my career and achieve the apprenticeship
I receive loads of support - they are always at the other end of the phone whenever needed and I know i can count on them to answer any questions i may have and support me both on my apprenticeship and in my day to day role. I appreciate everything they do for us!
It definitely help me perform better in my day to day tole as it has opened my eyes to new initiatives that i can introduce at work, and also how to prioritize my work better and more efficiently to maximize the effort i put in - which has been a great learning curve
I am now the part of many professional boards and apprentice boards which has helped me reach out to people having similar experiences. My office also holds monthly socials to meet people at, and there are additional events to get involved in such as yoga, running clubs, golf days and more
Yes
I would definitely recommend Mitchells & Butlers - I have grown so much in the time I have been here and the business is so big I know there will be loads more opportunities to come my way in the future. It is a fun place to work, with friendly teams and great staff - whats not to like!
Anyone applying should do their background research on the company, it is a big company with loads of different brands who all take varying approaches so important to know this. I would also say be yourself - we love people who show off their personality and are willing to get stuck in
