As I am currently in my fourth year of my apprenticeship my role has evolved taking on more responsibility: managing different sub contractor accounts by assessing variations, valuing their works on site each month, sending emails to different trades, placing orders for different items of kit i.e. luminaires, chillers.
Yes I feel like I have learnt lots of skills during my time at mace, the skills I feel like I have developed the most are my communication skills have developed massively due to speaking to different colleagues at various different levels of the business as well as speaking to external colleagues.
so far I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the program working at Mace. there are many exciting things that you do, such as going on site and getting to see the changes in your project working on iconic projects in London. Learning and seeing how quickly a project can change and the reasons behind it.
The structure is extremely organised, many training sessions are put on for the apprentices at Mace. Line manager always available to help with any questions I have regarding work and things outside of work if needed.
I have never had any problems with support with my employer. there are so many people that are there to help us out: Line managers, HR, Talent team, older apprentices have always offered help when needed
This is one of the only downfalls, we are limited to the amount of help we can receive from the university as we are only there for one day a week and its very full on.
There are many different things that relate to my day to day work that I can use from my qualification and vice versa. We have specific things like information on contracts that are vital in helping me before better.
Yes there are many networking events put on at Mace, this can be through the apprenticeship scheme, there are project networking events that allow a better networking with our sub contractors. events that are put on by the group and also volunteering days that are set up through mace that allows you to network and collaborate while helping other people.
